Washington D.C.
WEBER STATEMENT ON HOUSE AMENDED CONTINUING RESOLUTION WITH BORDER SECURITY FUNDING
News Release
Friday, December 21, 2018

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, December 20, 2018, the U.S. House of Representatives sent an amended version of the Senate’s Continuing Resolution back to the Senate for final approval. The amended bill funds the remaining seven agencies of the government through February 2019, while also providing $5.1 billion for border security and $7.8 billion for disaster relief. Congressman Randy Weber (R – Friendswood) released the following statement:

“The People’s House knows our constituents want to see the border properly funded and secured. Our President heard that message, and the House resolved to plus up our border funding.

“Our border needs securing, and having survived Hurricane Harvey, I know first hand the critical need for disaster funding. My colleagues and I were elected to serve our districts. We have a job to do, and House Republicans did just that.

“It is now time for the Senate to take a stand for the desires of the American people. I actively encourage them to accept our amendment to the bill and avoid a partial government shut down.”
