Investigation into Fatal Crash at 3400 Gulf Freeway
News Release
Tuesday, January 08, 2019

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 3400 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 12:45 a.m. today (January 8).

The female victim, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Uribe and Officer V. Ramos reported:

The victim was a front seat passenger in a brown Chevrolet Impala traveling southbound at the above address.  After making suicidal statements to her boyfriend, the Impala's driver, the woman opened the door of the vehicle and jumped out.  She was then struck by an 18-wheeler, also traveling southbound at the above address.

The drivers of both vehicles stopped and called 9-1-1.

There are no charges in this case, as the investigation is continuing.
