Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to authorize County Judge Jeff Branick to sign the Department of Homeland Security Detainer Letter as required by the Office of the Governor for an application for grants through the governor’s office.

The letter states that the county will “participate fully” in all aspects of programs and procedures utilized by DHS to “notify DHS of all information requested by DHS related to illegal aliens” in custody and to “detain such illegal aliens in accordance with requests by DHS.” Letter

The commissioners court voted to execute right of entry for survey and exploration agreements with the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

The commissioners court voted to approve specifications for an invitation to bid on a term contract for legal notices for Jefferson County.

The commissioners court voted to approve specifications for an invitation to bid on a contract for demolition of Hangar No. 3 at Jack Brooks Regional Airport.

The next meeting of the commissioners court will be Tuesday, January 22 due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday.
