Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to adopt a resolution supporting an increase in Amtrak's Sunset Limited Service from tri-weekly to daily.

The Sunset Limited is part of Amtrak's basic national train network connecting Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California, and serves 22 cities in five states, including seven Texas communities, according to the resolution. Resolution

The commissioners court voted unanimously to adopt a resolution opposing unfunded mandates by the State of Texas and supporting legislation that would expressly prohibit the imposition of costs of mandatory government programs on Texas counties.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to adopt a proclamation in observance of School Choice Week.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to renew the county's property insurance policy with Axis Insurance Company, at an annual premium of $1,129,610.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to renew boiler and machinery insurance with Hartford Steam Boiler for an annual premium of $16,863.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve excess workers' compensation and general liability insurance with Colony Insurance Company for an annual premium of $173,775.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with all members present. Agenda
