Jefferson County
Beaumont City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, January 22, 2019

Beaumont City Council today voted unanimously to adopt an ordinance calling for an election on May 4 to elect the mayor and six council members.

Mayor Becky Ames, at-large council members W. L. Pate, Jr. and Bill Sam, and council members Virginia Jordan, Mike Getz, Audwin Samuel and Robin Mouton, who represent Wards 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively, have terms expiring in May.

The city council voted unanimously to approve the purchase of three police vehicles in the amount of $84,620 from Silsbee Ford.

The vehicles will replace three units, two of which were involved in accidents, and the third has engine failure due to age.

The city council took no action regarding the setting of the mandatory payment rate related to the Local Provider Participation Fund for FY 2019. The item was pulled from the agenda.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Council Member Audwin Samuel was absent. Agenda
