Area Couples Underwrite Keep Kids in Schools Golf Tournament
Press Release
Wednesday, January 23, 2019

Since 2010, Janice and Rick Gornto and Laura and Chris Goldstraw have been underwriting the annual Keep Kids in School Golf Tournament, which benefits Communities In Schools-Bay Area. The tournament has raised more than $1.2 million in support of CIS-Bay Area's dropout prevention program in 26 campuses in Clear Creek and Dickinson ISDs.

This year's tournament will be held April 15 at Bay Oaks Country Club.

Business leader and philanthropist Rick Gornto is the founding father of the shamble tourney and a former president of the board of directors of CIS-Bay Area.  "Janice and I give money to and help raise money for Communities In Schools, and their counselors and 'angels' give the kids everything else. Food, clothing, time, medical, dental, etc. But mostly they give them an open heart and their love and affection. That's most important," says Rick Gornto.

Long time supporters Laura and Chris Goldstraw are both former CIS-Bay Area board of directors members. "We are excited to again be title sponsors for the Keep Kids in School Golf Tournament. We are passionate about all students deserving the opportunity to receive the best education available. CIS-Bay Area provides a campus coordinator to give individual guidance to those students in need. This personal attention allows for their specific needs to be met with a caring adult, in a safe environment,  and through community resources. It takes a community to raise our future community," says Laura Goldstraw.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information on  the Keep Kids in School GolfTournament, contact Hillary Gramm at or 281-486-6698.
