Galveston ISD Board of Trustees
by Garrett Bryce
Friday, January 25, 2019

The Galveston Independent School District Board of Trustees on Wednesday voted 6-0-1, with Ken Jencks abstaining, to approve a joint declaration of principles to reflect a Galveston-collaborative entity position on the Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Feasibility Study.

The study, conducted by the United States Corps of Engineers, includes recommendations for a storm surge protection barrier along the upper Texas Gulf Coast, including Galveston.

Jencks stated he would abstain from the item due to concerns he received regarding recommendations for the Bolivar Peninsula.

The board voted unanimously to extend the contract for Superintendent Dr. Kelli Moulton through the 2020-2021 school year.

The board voted unanimously to adopt a resolution for tax assessment and collection services through the Galveston Tax Assessor-Collector's Office.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
