The Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau to Host the 29th Annual Hall of Fame Reception

BEAUMONT, TEXAS -- The Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) will host its 29th Annual Hall of Fame Reception at the Ford Park Entertainment Complex at 5115 IH - 10 South on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. The CVB will recognize and honor the meeting planners who chose Beaumont as their host city for conferences, sporting events and reunions during the previous year.

The Hall of Fame Reception is a time for the CVB to honor inductees as well as extend gratitude to meeting planners for contributing to the success of tourism in Beaumont during 2018. After the recognition ceremony, the CVB will present this years’ Service Award to a local citizen who has shown extreme dedication to enhancing tourism in Beaumont. The Annual Service Award recipient is kept secret and revealed at the close of the reception to a surprised guest of honor.

"The staff and I look forward to the Hall of Fame Reception every year because it gives us a chance to share our thanks and appreciation with the local planners who work with our sales staff to bring their events to Beaumont," said Dean Conwell, CDME, Executive Director of the CVB. “We are so grateful to the local community who continues to work with us to help Beaumont prosper.”

Each year the CVB works diligently to entice groups, conventions and sports planners to choose Beaumont for their meeting destination. These events impact the local economy through hotel occupancy taxes and tourism dollars that are “new money” brought into the city that significantly affect the economic development of Beaumont.

In 2018, Beaumont hosted 120 events, welcomed 81 organizations and 74,595 convention delegates. The direct economic impact on Beaumont's economy from convention business is estimated to be more than $18.8 million* for 2018.

Events drawing the largest numbers of overnight stays include the following:

  • Southeast Texas Baseball- Rooms: 3,174; Attendance: 8,682; Events: 12
  • United States Fastpitch Association- Rooms: 2,588; Attendance: 5,670; Events: 5
  • United States Tennis Association- Rooms: 1,512; Attendance: 1,486; Events: 3
  • Stars Over Texas- Rooms: 1,453; Attendance: 5,080; Events: 4
  • Southern Black Softball- Rooms: 1,400; Attendance: 3,125; Events: 3
  • American College Dance Association- Rooms: 600, Attendance: 1,680; Events: 1
  • Step-N-Strutt Trail Ride- Rooms: 560; Attendance: 3,500, Events: 1
  • Skills USA District 7- Rooms: 502; Attendance: 1,800; Events: 1
  • USA Softball of Texas- Rooms: 462; Attendance: 900; Events: 1
  • Baptist Missionary Education- Rooms: 395; Attendance: 495; Events: 1

Still Cruisin’, a ten-piece “Dance Horn Band” that plays live music ranging from Disco to R&B, is this year’s entertainment. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy an on-site selfie photo booth provided by Oh Snap Selfie Booth. Terri Scarborough, of Nine Plus Weddings, is decorating for the event and Lizz Jelsma, of Boomtown Balloons, will also provide decorations for Hall of Fame.
