AUSTIN, Texas — Many Hurricane Harvey survivors who were provided temporary housing units by FEMA and the Texas General Land Office are preparing to move to their next home by the end of this month. Whether looking to rent an apartment, buy a home or rebuild an existing one, a variety of resources have helped such survivors since Harvey struck 17 months ago.

Survivors can find an extensive list of resources online at, which highlights partners and programs like:

  • The Texas General Land Office’s Homeowner Assistance Program helps qualified homeowners repairing or rebuilding after Hurricane Harvey:
  • The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs provides affordable housing programs and resources, including a searchable database of affordable, vacant apartments: Call 512-475-3800 or visit
  • Public housing agencies’ programs assist Texans throughout the state. Find local agencies in this directory compiled by HUD:
