COLLEGE OF THE MAINLAND JAZZ ENSEMBLE OFFERING FREE CONCERT

Texas City— The College of the Mainland Jazz Ensemble will present a variety of selections during a free concert on March 5.

The Jazz Ensemble, under the director of Sparky Koerner, will perform selections from the Count Basie’s April in Paris and A Warm Feeling to Benny Goodman’s Stompin’ at the Savoy from the Big Band days as well as Freddie Hubbard’s Up Jumped Spring. Randy Brecker’s Shanghigh from his Grammy award-winning CD, 34th’n Lex will give solo space to trumpeter Terry Dunn and guitarist Juan Manual.

The concert, which is open to the public, is slated for 7:30 p.m. in the COM Fine Arts Building Recital Hall as 1200 Amburn Road in Texas City.
