La Porte City Council on Monday voted unanimously to award a $70,000 contract to Aztec Remodeling for the construction of an addition to the fire training facility.

The addition will be a small building which will be used to store rescue boats and communication trailers.

Currently the rescue boats are being double stacked and some trailers are outside.

The city received three bids for the project, with the lowest bid being $58,376. The remaining budget for the project totals $58,500. While within budget, the staff is seeking to include the project the annual asphalt overlay project, which would receive better pricing.

All action items were approved. All votes were unanimous with Council Member John Zemanek absent. Agenda

During the meeting, Shonda Ingle, Public Works Secretary, was recognized as Employee of the Fourth Quarter for 2018.
